When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my judgment to smoke or to stop. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The health and financial costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to continue on one you cant really justify in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you relish.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my bedroom door. I wanted each day to see my reasons for changing my behavior this helped a lot since quitting smoking is a decision one has to make day by day. When you stop smoking you have to presume there will be times when you will error but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I backslid and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
If I saw the scales go up I made sure to workout more and not to replace eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with a little something I usually would not do for myself. In the event I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I will not say that I do not think about smoking from time to time and perhaps always will but I also prompt myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes do not stink of smoke your hair does not reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the cash you would have used for buying smokes into a saving account and watch it grow.
